A few weeks back while attending the New York Photo Festival we stumbled across Zakka – a curious book store with a phenomenal collection of design publications. We entered the store with the intention of staying for a few minutes, but we ended up being there for more than an hour.

Zakka defines themselves as a book store and artist space. With their focus squarely on design, a careful curation guides you through select magazines, inspiring books on topics like photography and architecture, and other unique collectibles. Their branch office is located in Japan, and as part of their mission they highlight the latest in Japanese subculture. Next time you visit Dumbo, Brooklyn, be sure to stop by. GraphixRob in Futr Wrld publication

Antimotion + Floating Gat recently released the long awaited 2009 FUTR WRLD book. This beautiful coffee table book is an open source collaboration that invited artists to:

1. Create a conceptual rendering of speculative visions of the future

2. To envision earth's inhabitants and enviorments in the year 2060.

These are the GraphixRob Studios images used in the book:

Artists from all over the world participated in the competition.
These were the contests listed guidelines:

Visual basis analysis will consist of the following guidelines:
- The living space
- Communication
- Evolution of the human body / biotech enhancement
- Transportation and movement
- Fashion - Urban / Suburban society
- War
- Entertainment / Gaming

Work is showcased in a limited edition art-book and the published art will be featured in a subsequent gallery exhibition in New York.

The NY show is TBA...so stay tuned.

Hair Wars
GraphixRob Studios teamed up with AMBRA Salon on March 15, 2009 to compete in a WILD competition of hair and fashion...

HAIR WARS THE SUPREME SALON TOUR
The Supreme Salon Tour showcased the talent of local Salons competing to become the Supreme Salon at the finals held in Las Vegas, NV.

The judges for the competition at Chicago's REDNOFIVE were Stephen Rosengard from BRAVO’s Project Runway, famed photographer David Anthony and Blanca Delgado from America’s Beauty Show. The judges chose the three most creative and talented salons. The three winners received a cash prize and the opportunity to advance to the national competition in Las Vegas to win the coveted title.

The gorgeous Ambra models were dressed in fantastic costumes and artistically decorated with face and body paint to achieve a 'Jungle Woman' appearence...

CGW (Computer Graphics World)
The Magazine Website promoted GraphixRob's artwork and bio (below) for the entire months of March and April

For all practical purposes, Rob Hassan is a self-taught artist. He has attended many traditional drawing and painting classes over the years, with the pinnacle being at the School of Visual Arts (NYC). He often attends classes to learn some of the newer programs and more advanced 3D techniques. Rob is also a member of AUGI Autodesk Users Group (the makers of 3ds Max) where the members meet monthly to socialize, demonstrate new cg techniques, and review the latest 3D software advances.
His CG artwork has been displayed in Chicago’s “Echo Gallery” and has received art awards in Hollywood, California, and Brisbane, Australia, and Trieste, Italy.

Rob is a freelance 2D and 3D artist currently seeking a steady position within the video game or comic book industry. He offers an eclectic mix and variety of art styles. For the past 9 years, he has focused on CG art utilizing several 2D and 3D software programs including: 3ds Max, Vue, Groboto, Poser, Daz 3D, and Adobe Photoshop. "The end product is usually a mix of a few of these programs" he says. Rob is constantly upgrading his workstation; currently he works on a HP dual core machine with 4GB of RAM and vray or mental ray render engines.

Rob’s inspiration is drawn from many sources, including various CG artists, classic fantasy painters, science fiction movies, classic Universal monsters, contemporary art, and comic book art.

This just in...we received a email from SS Crompton and it looks like there is speculation about a sequel to the Demi the Demoness movie!

GraphixRob studios has been confirmed to be a contributor of artwork to the sequel...

Demi the Demoness Movie – Will there be a Sequel?

People keep asking if there is going to be a second Demi movie. Ironically, even people who haven’t bought the first episode, want to know if they’ll be another one. We of course would love to do another one, but there’s a reason that even large companies like Fox and Warner Brothers take several years between movies. One of those reasons is to determine of there is long-term interest in the 1st movie. The sales on the first Demi movie have been good, but we were told early on that it might take a year of more for the film to earn back it’s production costs. And for a porn like ours, the costs were higher than normal. We had to make a special costume for Demi. We had better sets, props, and music than a lot of pornos do, and we had special effects, something most pornos don’t have at all. And because of all this, it was harder to shoot the Demi movie as well.
The good news is that the first film came out really great. All the pieces came together better than we had hoped. It could very easily have been a disaster that was neither sexy, funny or like the Demi comics. Instead we got something that really IS like the Demi comics and the girls who played Demi & Vampirooni, were perfect for the parts and the two had a great chemistry that shows up in the finished film. We also had a great villainess in Lyssa, and in fact right now, we are working on a Special Demi Movie tie-in comic that will chronicle the early years of Lyssa and her Nazi grandfather. It will also feature a story showing how Vampirooni ran across the Thule Gestaff during the 1930’sBut back to the movie sequel – the bad news is that Ellie Idol has retired from the porn industry. In fact, Demi was the last adult movie she did. So if we do a sequel, we’ll have to get a new actress to play Demi. And we have to sell enough of the current movie to convince our co-production partners on this film that it’s worth all the extra trouble and effort to do another one. Remember that from their standpoint, the Demi movie makes them less money than one of their other movies, since they are splitting the proceeds with Carnal Comics. So I guess the bottom line here is only time will tell. We have sold a bunch so far and the sales at San Diego Comic Con were amazing. We sold more Demi Movies then anything else I’ve ever sold at the Comic Con. We actually ran out and had to send someone back to LA to get more.
We are planning to be at Phoenix Comic Con in January & WonderCon at the End of February, so stop by and met the actress that played Vampirooni!And if you have a friend that might like a copy of the DVD for Christmas, or you still haven’t gotten a copy of your own – now is the time to get yours! Some people have gotten a copy to play at their Halloween party this year – I mean it does star lesbian demoness, a witch & vampiress – where else can you get that?

Demi the Demoness Movie is the live action debut of the adult comic characters Demi, created by SS Crompton, and Vampirooni, created by Randy Vogel. The movie plays out as I would expect the comics do with a fun short story that has a nice comic feel to it, partly due to the excellent 3-D art used in the film by Rob Hassan, which retains the feel that you are watching a live action comic.

Steve Steele and SS Crompton didn't skimp when it came to the sets. The sets are, simply put, excellent. To add to them the exterior shots are of 3-D art by Rob Hassan that keeps the mood and feel of the movie. The art gives the feel of our world, yet not quite our own, where characters such as Demi, Vampirooni and Lyssa could exist. The last aspect, costuming and make-up aren't skimped upon either. With complicated make-up work combined with extensive prosthetic use for Demi's character and befitting costumes all the characters really come alive. There is also some light special effects use that works to the aid of the movie.

Pick one up today.

I haven't heard any rumors of Oscar nominations yet but, we'll keep you posted...

The 'Demi The Demoness' Adult movie has completed filming!

The movie has been shot – I was in LA for the last 4 days and wanted to keep you updated on things.

It will end up being a sort of x-rated gothic episode of the old BATMAN TV show. Funny, sexy and supernatural.

INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL VISUAL ARTS COMPETITION

“THE BRAIN PROJECT – 2007”

The competition – organised and run on the web and devoted to computer-processed graphic and photographic images – aroused the interest of 410 artists from 55 different countries.

The winning 30 images will be on display until 15^th December, together with 25 works by Riccardo Paci, winner of the 2006 edition of "The Brain Project". The State Library is located at 6, Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII and entrance to the exhibition is free. Opening hours: 8.30 am-6.30 pm from Monday to Friday, 8.30-1.30 pm on Saturday.

The international competition “The Brain Project” was organised with the support of the Regional Committee for Education, Culture, Sport and Peace of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Credito Cooperativo del Carso/ Zadružna Kraška Banka, in cooperation with the Ministry for Arts and Culture and the State Library in Trieste.

The competition aroused the interest of 410 artists from every corner of the world: 208 from Italy, 36 from the USA, 17 from Germany, 12 from Great Britain, 8 from the Netherlands, 7 from France, the Czech Republic and India, 6 from Brazil and Japan. Other applications came from major European and western countries including Australia, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia and Israel, but also from China, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, African countries and Latin America.

The subject matter was “Attraction”. Through different photo, photo retouching, graphic, and digital painting techniques participants represented this subject in an evocative, surreal, highly imaginative way without forgetting other aspects, like irony and social criticism.

Participants worth mentioning include Japanese digital artist Nakamura Kazuhiko, who took inspiration from Kafka’s story and Arcimboldo’s paintings to create his “Metamorphosis”, Russian Sergey Skachkov, from Novosibirsk, who depicted a disturbing image of modern, labyrinth-like cities. If Israeli Moran Barak, from Tel Aviv, created a bright, graphic-pictorial image of friends gathered around a bonfire, Italian Rita Soccio, from Recanati, used a good deal of amused irony to represent the bizarre Proper/Star family, originating from the love of two very popular cartoon characters used in TV ads.

Images posted on the competition website were anonymously analysed by a jury of experts. The thirty best images they selected were published on the competition magazine, including 25 works by artist and computer scientist Riccardo Paci, from Florence. His personal exhibition include some printings and oil on canvas pictures with three different subject matters: “Acqua” (Water), “Stella” (Star) and “Occhio” (Eye). With one of these images, a puzzle of digital images forming a big eye, Paci won the first edition of “The Brain Project” competition, in which 309 artists from 42 different countries participated.

Picayune Productions in in the process of filming the movie 'Comic Ruse' and it seems that they are using a character (Mammoth) that I created several years ago.

I received this email recently from Roland the films director:

"The film is back on track. It actually stalled briefly when I got a job writing for Marvel Comics along side Orson Scott Card (Red Prophet still in stores now!), but now that the project is over, I'm pressing ahead with the film. Scenes that highlight "The Mammoth" have actually been filmed already!"

The first edition of “The Brain Project” competition – whose subject matterwas “Borders” – took place last year. 309 people from 42 different countriesparticipated in it thus offering an overview of the future developments inthe field of digital art.

The works posted in the competition website www.thebrainproject.eu will be analysed and evaluated online by an international jury. The thirty best pictures will be published on the website, published in the exhibition magazine and displayed at an exhibition in Trieste (Italy) at the end of November.This event is promoted by Acquamarina – Associazione Culturale with thesupport of Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia, Regional Committee for Education, Culture, Sport and Peace, Credito Cooperativo del Carso/ ZadružnaKraška Banka and in cooperation with the Ministry for Arts and Culture andthe State Library in Trieste (Italy).

Frank S. at FujiFilm Graphic Arts Products department came through with the Graphixrob lenticular print poster. The Crash Landing image was used to create a fantastic 3D poster. The poster will be distributed to the entire sales team and used to promote the unique printing technology. The picture (below) does not do the gorgeous 24" poster justice.
The poster did not photograph very well for obvious reasons.

The adult movie: Demi The Demoness has begun preproduction.

GraphixRob Studios will provide a few 3D images of castles and other fantasy shots. The images will be used to establish set locations and for scene transitions.

~The Envaryan Chronicles: Book 1

GraphixRob Studios images have been chosen to highlight 2 chapters of the latest project for the musical artists 'Rhythmic Symphony'.

The Envaryan Chronicles: Book 1 is an original story centered on the immortal city of Envarya. Each chapter has been written in lyrical form and put to music, making each song a chapter, and each album a book.

~Renderosity Halloween contest

I recently entered the 7th annual Renderosity.com Halloween contest .

The contest theme is "Dinner With the Dead".

The Judging Phase is: Tuesday, October 23, 2007 to Tuesday, October 30, 2007.

My European artist representitive agency Aker Art Studio has approached a "big" publishing company for a possible art book deal.

According to my rep., this publisher has produced books for some of the most recognized European sci-fi and fantasy artists including: Luis Royo, Azpiri among others.

~The art representative agency Aker Art Studio (AAS) will be soliciting my artwork in Europe and the US. They are associated with some really great artists and seem to have strong connections. Their offices are in Barcelona, Spain.

~The Museum of Computer Art (MOCA) will be exhibiting my 3D artwork on their virtual museum website.

'What's up' with GraphixRob?

New News

Heading into Fall 07...a few projects are keeping me busy including:

~Several new pencil images were created for the WizardWorld convention over the past several months (view here). Thanks to everyone who purchased the prints! I sold over 150 copies of the artwork over the 3 day show and met many cool people.
The best sellers this year were 'Heroes', Batman 'The Dark Knight', 'Hulk II' and 'Iron Man'...

~Anticipating the new Iron Man movie coming out in 08' The folks from the Robert Downey Jr fan site asked to use my concept image of the movie's characters for their gallery. (Check it out)

~Fuji Film has asked to use this 3d scene (link) for a poster. To be used to promote a Lenticular printing technology currently being developed in their graphic arts department.

~The internationally distributed Imagine FX Fantasy and Sci-Fi digital art magazine will be promoting several pieces of my artwork with a brief biography in the Oct./Nov issue.
Look for the article within the pages of the 'Reader Expose" section.

~The Hierograph: Volume Two book will be completed and available this Winter by Twenty2six publications. This art book compiles eclectic comic and fantasy artwork from several artists and will include 5 of my Vue lanscape pieces.

~Demi the Demoness is in Production!
After being published in Demi's Pin-Up Diary by Carnal Comics earlier this year, I've been asked to participate in the film by producing some 3d images to be used for scene transision in the adult film.

San Diego CA, Aug 14th 2007 – The popularity of Super-hero & fantasy movies in general (not to mention Japanese anime) has put pressure on adult filmmakers to step up to the challenge of creating x-rated sci-fi & fantasy stories as well. Several adult film companies have already done comic oriented or sci-fi themed movies.

~I have submitted 10 images to the 'Impact Books Rising stars of Fantastic Art competition' by F+W Publications and I'm hoping to be included in one of their books in the future...finalists will be notified by Nov. 1st. Keep your fingers crossed.
